Olympian's All-Area Players (Fall)

They were the fall attractions.

They were the ones scoring the winning goal in soccer, doing a flip turn in the pool for a dramatic finish in swimming or coming from behind to win in cross country.

In swimming, it was Olympia's Clara Heffernan, the determined sophomore who reached the 4A state podium in two events.

In cross country, it was Tumwater's Steven Acosta and Chehalis' Caroline Austin rising to the challenge and placing among the top five at state.

In volleyball, it was Tumwater's Amanda Warner, slamming shots to the floor for a point winner.

All-State Teams
After winning the 2A state championship and going undefeated, Tumwater's Amanda Warner was named 2A player of the year and Tana Croft was named 2A coach of the year on Sunday.

In addition, Tumwater's Alex Sele and Katrina McClaflin were both named first-team all-state.

"It was such a huge team effort to win a state title, but at the same time it's great to see the individual awards," Croft said. "These three players are the first to say that the ones who didn't get mentioned are the ones who helped us win a state title."

Warner is a three-year starter and was a dominant outside hitter. She finished the season with 134 kills and 23 errors.

"Amanda has been the rock of our team for the last three years," Croft said. "Even with the big guns that's come through, she's been our leader. She's been a great all around player."

Summer Varsity Wins Seattle University Tournament

Summer varsity had a great run at the Seattle University Tournament July 8th-10th.  Tumwater defeated 4A Newport in the championship game.  Tumwater also defeated Kings, Mountlake Terrace, Lynwood, Lynden Christian, Edmonds Woodway and LaConner on their way to the title.
